The
Oakland Foundation launched its first Annual Fund during the 2005-6 school
year, generating $100,000 to support Oakland and to help maintain tuition
below that of peer schools. Support for the Annual Fund comes from
individual donations as well as proceeds from the annual Silent Auction. In
2005-6, the Oakland Annual Fund supported the following:
Scholarships: Thanks to the Annual Fund and other contributions, Oakland School was able to provide $70,000 in financial aid, helping nine families to take advantage of an Oakland education.
Oakland School Health Center: In the Fall of 2005, Oakland completed construction of its first year-round health center. The new center houses sick beds, bath facilities, nurse’s office, waiting room and living quarters for the school nurse. Additional funding is required to pay for this new facility.
Staff Development: More teachers had opportunities to increase and reinforce their knowledge of specialized teaching methodologies through attendance at a variety of educational conferences.
Goal- $125,000
Annual Fund Gifts are raised from alumnae, parents, grandparents, former parents, friends, foundations and corporations. Funds raised contribute to Oakland’s academic programs, financial aid and building and grounds maintenance. The Annual Fund helps ensure that all children who need the special education Oakland provides can access it.
